'Tis a coolish morning out-45 degrees and overcast. I'm waiting for my Irish Breakfast tea to steep while I sit down to visit with you. I've been busy creating things that I can't show you just yet. So for the moment I thought I'd give you a peek at what happened in my journal lately. Creating in a journal is so fun. I love experimenting with layers, colors, textures and new art supplies! Spring is so joyful for me and I was thinking about how much I love the bounty of new growing leaves and blossoms spilling forth from the garden.
So I had gotten this far when I realized that this might be a good page to share with you-which is why I don't have any of the earlier stages. Sometimes I feel patient enough to stop and take photos every so often so that I can share them later on. And other times frankly I feel like a determined toddler who just wants to be left alone to make a joyful, colorful, splashy mess! And stopping to take photos feels like an interruption then. ; ) Fortunately I was a bit more patient this day.
A flower appeared. And then she wanted MORE (my art is rather insistent sometimes!). So I cut up a photograph I had of another one of my journal pages and pasted it down.
Then to soften the contrast of the yellow tape against the page I lightly brushed it with white paint to merge it into the page. You can still see it but it doesn't stand out so sharply. Now it just adds a fun little bit of texture and richness to the page.
This is where I stopped. It is resting now until I feel called to work on it again. One of my private students was asking me if I work consecutively in my journals. I don't. I will skip around as I feel like it. I even have several journals going at once which I bounce around in. To me it is a little like the fun of having several rooms in your house. It is more interesting to spend time in a variety of rooms than to spend all your time in a single room.
May a little art dance into your life today!
