Acrylic Expressions- Sun., Feb. 17th
This class is designed for those of you who are just beginning acrylics or those of you who have dabbled but would like to refine your skills. We will begin with an overview of acrylic and the forms it comes in. We'll discuss materials and how to make a palette that keeps your paint fresh over many days. You won't believe how easy it is to make perfect image transfers onto fabric! Using this technique we will create and build our own embellished compositions on muslin or you can work directly on any light colored, fine weave fabric. Sketching Your Journey- Sun., Feb.24th or Sat., May 18th
Learn tricks for creating expressive watercolor sketches on location while traveling, visiting a cafe, or from your photos after you get back home. This style of art is loose and freeing. Starting with easy drawing exercises to warm up, you’ll gradually add in detail with pen sketches. Then you'll add water to create a value painting. No art experience required. All supplies provided. Bring a journal to work in.
Coffee and tea are not just for drinking! Caffeine takes on a whole new role in this very fun class where we will be using brewed coffee, instant coffee, ink and watercolor to paint, write and doodle. They create wonderful textures and some surprising effects not available with any other medium. You'll learn how to do several lettering techniques using a simple straw and a stir stick. We'll create intrigueing layered compositions using dried tea bags, burlap coffee sacking, napkins and free motion stitch on a sewing machine. These techniques work great for art journaling and mixed media paintings. Join us and you will never look at coffee the same way again!
