I'm excited to announce that my Fall Art Workshops (in Seattle) are now up on my website!
Here is a little teaser for an upcoming art workshop I'm offering. This is a brand new class which I had a lot of fun creating.
And yes, this class is for beginners like most of my classes are. I get a lot of students who don't believe they can draw--and by the end of the workshop they are amazed at what they've been able to do! : )
Vintage, Ink & Watercolor Journal
Saturday, November 29th
No drawing exprience necessary! Some experience with watercolor is helpful, but not required. Bring a journal to work in. Optional: bring objects you wish to paint: stones, shells, twigs, feathers, or bring photos. All other supplies provided.
This class was inspired by vintage natural history journals, filled with exquisite paintings and luscious pen and ink drawings. In spite of how "hard" this looks-we will break it down into fun and easy steps and techniques-no drawing or painting experience is required. You will learn how to use a dip pen to both write and draw with. You will get to try different pen points and use different colors of ink. Learn now to create your own style of lettering. We will explore different ways to mix watercolor and ink drawings. We will be painting watercolor on white paper as well as on tinted gessoed paper which creates a wonderful vintage look. We will talk about different ways to compose a page, mixing drawings, watercolor, writing and watercolor postcards with faux shadows. You can take this in any direction you wish-for example you could sketch your grandfather's old tools, vintage household items or anything you think would be fun. This will be a relaxing class where you will be surprised to learn how fun and easy it is to do this style of art.
