Hi!
It has been a summer whirlwind of teaching at New Jersey, Chicago and Texas CREATE retreats. Just got home from a fabulous time in Dallas, and now I leave soon again to teach in at Art is You Petaluma, California!
My giant purple suitcase has been emptied and filled up again with supplies, handouts, and clothes. Sophie Cat is eyeing it with great suspicion as she has learned what this means. I just love how wherever I go, I meet the most wonderful people. My classes have been so much fun and I look forward to each one.
When I get back I'm so excited to be offering two Autumn inspired classes in Seattle-one in Mixed Media, the other in Watercolor.
Autumn Inspirations in Mixed Media
Saturday, October 11th
No art experience required. All supplies provided.
In this mixed media class you will get to use and experiment with all kinds of texture-thick cracked paint, thin inky drips, mix acrylic paint, collage, fabric, cardboard and barc wood. You can do any theme you wish. Learn how to work with Golden's crackle paste, and how to stain and paint it. You will get to work with acrylic paints and inks-layering and building up textures. Learn how to add in a variety of collage materials including art papers, and corregated cardboard. Create a visual treat with these unusual and fun materials and come away knowing how you can mix and use these together.
Inspiration gathered on a short walk.

Celebrating Autumn in Watercolor
Sunday, October 12th
No watercolor experience required. All supplies provided.
This is a fun and relaxed class for continuing to develop your skills with watercolor. Using wet into wet, dry brush, and transparent layers, you’ll learn how to capture the rich colors and textures of autumn leaves, pumpkins, and other squash. Compare each technique, and learn which you prefer. You'll get to learn how to add veins and highlights by lifting both dry and wet paint and compare how they differ. You'll also get to discover color mixes for creating rich shadows. You get to try out PrimaTek paints which are made directly from the earth’s minerals and see how wonderful they are for creating autumn’s palette. Join us for this celebration of Autumn's colors!
