I'm back from a wonderful time teaching at Handmade U! This retreat is hosted by Rachel McGough, who really puts her heart and creativity into creating this fabulous event! Everyone recieved goodie bags worthy of a magazine spread, and we all got our own Handmade U Tees! What also makes this retreat special is that it is much smaller and more intimate. The group of 23 folks all stay together-once you get your table you can spread out and don't have to move! It was a great group of women from all over the United States! I was so busy taking in the whole event that I forgot to take photos of all the wonderful events. I DID get some photos so you can get a taste of what it was like.
Here are all of the women who taught or organized the retreat. Left to right: Shelley Overholt and Michelle Geller (both taught great make-and-takes after dinner the first night), Hope Wallace Karney (who taught the first day), Rachel McGough (Queen organizer of the whole retreat), and lastly, me.
These are photos of everyone's project from Hope's class: Parlour Journal of Thoughts & Musings.
Aren't all these little folio journals delightful??
Rachel and I
Shelley and her plethora of art supplies
Sandie and Patricia and their fabulous journals
I love this class and it is so fun to watch everyone make their journals-they are all so unique! I was so impressed with the creativity and enthusiasm that everyone poured into their books.
Lastly, I thought I'd share some photos of my sample journal I made for this class (which I am still working on). If you live in the Seattle area, I am teaching this workshop on Saturday, October 6th, 10-3. I have a variety of art & journaling workshops- view current schedule.
Notice my photo assistant in the lower right corner?? Sophie Cat had to make sure the lighting was correct!
If you are interested in going to Handmade U - Spring 2013, keep a watch on Rachel's blog where she'll announce her upcoming events. Thanks to everyone who was there-you made this a very special retreat!
Wishing you a lovely and colorful Fall!...............0000000001 (this last part was brought to you by Sophie Cat) : )
