Letters of Joy 2012

In Edmonds, WA, May 4th & 5th, Write On Calligraphers will be holding the 30th Annual, Letters of Joy, A Festival for Calligraphers and Lettering Artists. Friday night's keynote speaker will be Barbara Close, a calligrapher and graphic designer from Santa Ana, California. On Saturday, attendees get to choose from 3, 2 hour classes on lettering, journaling or other paper arts. I am delighted to be teaching this year! I'll be offering the same class for all three sessions. 

Illustrated Words

Merge the gracefulness of writing with expressive line and watercolor to add artistic borders and spot illustrations to your work. You'll learn how to work with your own natural gesture and sense of design. Add to that the magic of color and shading to create imaginative and delightful art to enhance your lettering. All levels welcome.

Artfest & Eye Candy

With Artfest only 9 days away, things are getting busy! Between teaching art classes, doing a freelance design project, and making things to sell at Artfest-it has been a whirlwind. Hence the delay in putting up another post for you! Artfest, is an art retreat which is taking place in Port Townsend and has 500-600 attendees who come to join in the fun of taking classes and soaking up the magic of being with people who understand the joy of expressing oneself creatively. I'm not teaching this year but am looking forward to kicking back and being a student. If you see me, please come up and say hello! I always enjoy meeting my readers. There are lot more of you out there than my comments would indicate. : )

I went around a took some pics of all the color around here. Some are close ups of things I'm making that I'll be selling, like the ultra soft & fuzzy scarves and my story jewelry. I also threw in a few journal pages for good measure.

 Also I have some great news! I'll be teaching a two day Altered Book Journal workshop at Art Camp for Women in October 2013! It is a great way to treat yourself-they provide wonderful meals, accomodations, relaxed atmosphere and they supply all the art supplies! All you have to do is pack your personal things! I'll be sharing more details on the workshop later.
