I know I promised more art cars, but I wanted to take a break, I'll have more next week. I recently unearthed my box of photos (remember that? BOXES of photos?? egads... I just realized how many boxes I would have to store if the technology hadn't changed!) ... a box of photos from my 2 month, cross-country road trip in 2000-thankfully, even though you did have to pay for processing, they were then putting them on disks if you asked. So I pulled the box out and loaded them all into my computer. 30 rolls (remember rolls?) of film, 1087 images later... and then I started going through them. I discovered several photos that were fine compositionally, but the quality wasn't great. So just for fun, I took one of them and played around in Photoshop to see what I could make of it. I thought you might like to see how much you can change and improve a photo.
The original photo-very washed out, and grainy.
Here I increased the saturation and strengthened the contrast.
Next, I wanted to simplify the image-to help viewers better see the composition, that had prompted me to take the photo in the first place. I used the Filter Gallery to experiment with different filters. This is the Dry Brush Filter.
Cut Out Filter #2 Here, I cropped the image and did a different version of Cut Out-changing the settings to strengthen the contrast.
Now just for fun... here is the original again... amazing what we can do with computers isn't it?
Have a Wonderful Day!
