Hi Friends! I know that many of you are in need of some cooler weather. Today I'm sharing some photos from my camping trip on Orcas Island, WA in hopes that they will provide you a little respite from the heat.
The beautiful, hour long, ferry ride.
Shimmering, dark green, water lapping islands carved long ago by glaciers. Dark green tree spires reaching up to kiss the sky.
Imagine living here, nestled among the woods, hearing the water lull you to sleep.
One of the natives.
A sweet little chapel out in rolling meadows.
In the morning, while it was still quiet, I got out my watercolors and painted in my journal.
(click to enlarge) It was still gray and cloudy-very dramatic skies. Later I came back to paint in the afternoon, and below me appeared a brightly colored flock of kayakers.
(click to enlarge) After I got back home, I added more detail.
I hope that you feel a little cooler now. : ) I love taking trips vicariously through others' photos. Perhaps now, you can imagine what it might be like to visit the San Juan Islands. Have a lovely week!
