Last weekend at the Joys of Journaling workshop, I taught how to make a journal with flaps on each page. This weekend I broke in the demo journal. I really am loving this new format. My roommate from college and I headed east to the woods and sunshine. Instead of taking photos this trip I captured some thoughts and impressions in my journal.
I painted this after my morning walk down by the river. The birds were very active. I was treated to seeing an American dipper fish for breakfast, an osprey fly overhead, and cedar waxwings swoop back and forth above the river. This page evolved from my impressions and feelings of being by the river.
Here you can see see why I love watercolors-all those yummy textures and colors!
I've missed using watercolors in my journals. Many are altered books which don't stand up to watercolor. If any of you want to learn about painting with watercolors-I am teaching a Watercolor 1 workshop in Seattle this Sunday, August 29th. Workshop details here. The Mixed Media 1 workshop is on Saturday, August 28th. Details here. No experience required!
I'll share more as my journal unfolds. Have a great day!
